Yuen Long — Choosing a School
Yuen Long has 77 kindergartens — the largest of these New Territories districts — spanning the Yuen Long town centre and Tin Shui Wai new towns, and a base for many cross-boundary pupils. 87% (67 schools) join the Free Scheme with no tuition, local non-profits dominate (68 schools), and only 9 are private. Among traditional aided schools, the parent-named "Yuen Long big three" — Chun Light, Life Church and Sam Yuk — are all free, long-established non-profits; St. Joseph's (S.K.H.) is among 4 rated Ming Pao A++. For an English or DSS route, private Gigamind Kindergarten emphasises activity-based learning, with parents citing good value and multiple primary offers this year; Anchors Academy Affiliated International has many NETs, a strong environment and a Mandarin focus, with parents reporting graduates have received offers from schools such as DGS (primary admission still rests with parents). District-wide, 8 schools run non-local curricula, with the likes of Tutor Time (YOHO) dotted around new-town malls; fees run from free to $63,600–$115,280 at international schools.
Non-local = international / non-local curriculum. Dual-track schools appear under both tabs.
The best kindergarten is where your child thrives — not the one with the highest score.
