Tsuen Wan — Choosing a School
Tsuen Wan has 37 kindergartens and is a district dominated by local non-profits with almost no international curriculum — just one non-local school district-wide (Victoria Ocean Pride International). 84% (31 schools) join the Free Scheme with no tuition, most of the rest are community non-profits, and only 6 are private. There is no international corridor like Kowloon Tong or Southern; the choice logic centres on which free non-profit is strongest: Salvation Army Lei Muk Shue, PLK Chi Pui and Tsuen Wan Baptist are among 5 rated Ming Pao A++, all free. For families wanting an English environment plus academics, private Luk Yeung Kindergarten is one of few options — parents cite 10-plus native English teachers, demanding K3 academics and excellent progression to aided primaries, while noting weak show-and-tell support and that "DSS/private prep rests with parents." Tsuen Wan is a high-value pick for working families who want to save on fees yet get a good non-profit school close to home.
Non-local = international / non-local curriculum. Dual-track schools appear under both tabs.
The best kindergarten is where your child thrives — not the one with the highest score.
FAQ
Which kindergartens are good in Tsuen Wan?
Tsuen Wan is led by free non-profits, so the key question is which free school is strongest. Salvation Army Lei Muk Shue, PLK Chi Pui, Tsuen Wan Baptist, HKSPC Sham Tseng and Ling Liang Church Tsuen Wan are rated Ming Pao A++, all free. For an English environment plus academics, private Luk Yeung Kindergarten is one of few options — parents cite 10-plus native English teachers, classes of about 20 with dual homeroom teachers, demanding K3 academics and excellent progression to aided primaries, though they note weak show-and-tell support and that DSS/private prep still rests with parents. Creative (Ma Wan) draws praise for whole-child development and good value.
Are there international kindergartens in Tsuen Wan?
Very few. Just one school runs a non-local curriculum — Victoria (Ocean Pride) International Kindergarten, with half-day fees around $102,400. For an English environment without necessarily an international curriculum, private Luk Yeung Kindergarten has 10-plus native English teachers and a strong English setting (parents praise its Chinese foundation too), while Creative (Ma Wan) has many international teachers and pupils. Overall, Tsuen Wan's international-curriculum options fall well short of Kowloon Tong or Southern, so families set on a full international route often cross districts.
How widely do fees vary in Tsuen Wan?
Most charge nothing. 31 schools (84%) join the Free Scheme with no half-day tuition; local private half-day runs about $53,200 to $92,400 (just 5 schools); the sole international school, Victoria (Ocean Pride), is around $102,400. Tsuen Wan has no ultra-premium international schools, so the fee gap is mainly "Free Scheme vs a handful of private schools" — the most down-to-earth fees among these New Territories districts.
How many kindergartens are in Tsuen Wan?
Tsuen Wan has 37 kindergartens: 31 (84%) join the Free Scheme, 23 offer PN (nursery, age 2) classes, and only 1 runs a non-local curriculum. Led by local non-profits with almost no international curriculum, it is a high-value choice for working families wanting to save on fees while getting a good non-profit school close to home.
