Frequently Asked Questions
How many international kindergartens are in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong has 177 international kindergartens across 17 districts, most concentrated in Kowloon City (30), Sai Kung (26) and Eastern (20). About 58% offer PN classes and 55% run full-day programmes.
Are international kindergartens always English-only?
Not necessarily. A significant share teach in Chinese-English bilingual mode, and some offer a third language such as French, German or Japanese. Bilingual schools suit families who want their child to keep up Chinese too.
How much do international kindergartens cost?
Full-day annual fees range widely from roughly HK$48,000 to HK$308,000, depending on curriculum (IB, EYFS, Montessori, etc.) and operator. See the international kindergarten fees guide for a detailed comparison.
Can non-expatriate families apply to international kindergartens?
Most international kindergartens accept local families, though some have admission priorities and a few assess parents' English during interviews.
